Horror fans rejoice! Everyone’s favorite killer doll is back! Don Mancini, creator of the ‘Child’s Play’ franchise, has released the first teaser of the upcoming SyFy network television series, CHUCKY.

The series will debut on both SyFy and USA in 2021. Don Mancini and Nick Antosca developed the series. The series is rumored to have many franchise veterans return, including Brad Dourif reprising his iconic role as Chucky.

Mancini released this first look to his Instagram account. The short teaser shows the interior of a ransacked toy store. It is accompanied with original music from the series. The camera pans through the store aisles and ends with Chucky raising his iconic knife.

Chucky Series arrives in 2021

Additionally, Mancini has promised that the new series will take the franchise in a brand new direction and possibly explore Chucky’s origin further than the previous films. The show will continue the original franchise continuity and take place after the events of 2017’s Cult of Chucky. The series will not make any references to last year’s reboot, which I loved.

This won’t end well….

MGM developed the reboot while the original continuity was still active on Netflix. In response, Mancini has been building hype behind this series over the last year as a counter to the reboot. Unfortunately, Cult of Chucky took the franchise in a very odd direction and divided the fans, including myself. So, I am cautiously optimistic about this new series.
