Mike Flanagan has reassured fans that The Haunting of Bly Manor will not be experiencing delays. Its release set for later this year.
A New Chapter
Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor is the second installment in the horror anthology series stemming from The Haunting of Hill House. Production schedule pushbacks occurred with every studio. However, the show-runner relieved the stress of fans that the series will be released as planned. The second season will be based on Henry James’ novella The Turn of the Screw. In the novella, two orphaned children are cared for by a governess and begin to experience supernatural anomalies.
The original installment, The Haunting of Hill House, began streaming on Netflix in October 2018. And in February of 2019, Netflix ordered another season of the show with the intent of being an anthology series.
The Haunting of Bly Manor slated to release in 2020. But production setbacks for the cast and crew have raised much uncertainty. Back in March, Netflix paused production on many of its original programs due to the COVID-19 outbreak. But in an announcement back in April, Mike Flanagan updated that things were still progressing for the show.
Currently In Post
On an appearance of CinemaBlend’s ReelBlend podcast, Flanagan said, “We had already wrapped before the whole COVID shutdown hit all the productions… But my post team also, you know, where I’ve been with now, my whole career, they cracked it real fast and we’ve been doing everything on these virtual sessions.” He added to comment about the show’s release date with, “It’s definitely later this year.”
There is no official release date for The Haunting of Bly Manor, but an October release around Halloween makes sense. So we will have to wait and see if Netflix will announce anything regarding the show in the next coming months. Many of the cast from the first season will return for Bly Manor such as Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, and Kate Siegel. New to the series are T’Nia Miller, Rahul Koli, and Amelia Eve.
It’s reassuring to know that Flanagan is set on the release being later this year. Hill House was praised by fans and critics, and a second season cannot come soon enough.
