Charlotte Flair has been all over WWE programming as of late. She was the NXT Women’s Champion, she’s appeared on both Raw and Smackdown, and she’s a centerpiece of WWE. She might be taking an extended break according to Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin. The explanation in storyline is that she broke her collarbone after an attack by Nia Jax. While that was looking like it would be the start of a feud between the two, now it appears that Charlotte is going to be taking time off.
As with anything WWE related, she could be returning much sooner. Charlotte is definitely the center of the Women’s Division, especially after the pregnancy-led departure of Becky Lynch earlier this year. But WWE isn’t short on female talent. They have plenty of amazing women who can fill in the gaps. This could actually be the best thing for Charlotte and the WWE. The old saying is that absence makes the heart grow fonder. In Wrestling, that saying means so much more. We can’t love you and miss you if you’re on our screens all the time.
Charlotte’s surgery is said to be elective at this point, but details weren’t given on just what it was. This could open the door for many different women down the card to step up in her time away. Bianca Belair, Shayna Baszler, and others should get more opportunities going forward. The other two “Horsewomen of WWE”, Bayley and Sasha Banks could also make a meteoric leap in status.
Charlotte’s return timeline could always shift. We’ll keep you updated on this story as more comes out about it.
