All Elite Wrestling’s Sammy Guevara has been suspended indefinitely. Guevara had these comments unearthed from a podcast appearance in 2016. On that podcast he made comments about WWE’s Sasha Banks that alluded to wanting to have sex with her. His quote was “Bro, Sasha Banks.. oh my God. When I was at the WWE the other week, I wanted to just go fu*king rape that woman”.
Not only are these comments problematic, they’re disgusting. You can say how attractive and good looking a woman or a man is. To say it like that, is unacceptable. AEW has made the choice to suspend him indefinitely without pay. They’re doing the right thing here, to go let Guevara get sensitivity training or whatever else. His salary being donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville is the cherry on top.
All Elite Wrestling and Wrestling in general have been having stories come out about abuse in the community. Jimmy Havoc, another AEW performer has been sent to counseling for comments and abuse that came out from his former girlfriend.
Sasha Banks’s Response To Guevara
Sasha had a very adult and reasonable response to Sammy’s comments. Following this news, I wouldn’t be surprised if more came out from around the wrestling community. People like this should be held accountable for comments that they make.
Hopefully he learns his lesson and other people can use him as an example. He has a bunch of talent and his work with the Inner Circle on AEW has been one of the highlights of that show.
We’ll keep you updated on this developing story and all that goes into it.
