Michael Keaton is in talks to reprise his role of Batman in the upcoming Flashpoint film. If you’re not familiar with the Flashpoint story, it tells an alternate reality of the DC universe where Bruce Wayne is actually the one who is killed on that fateful day. Martha Wayne goes insane from guilt and becomes the Joker. Thomas Wayne takes up the mantle of Batman. The Wrap is reporting that Keaton is going to make an appearance at the upcoming online DC convention, Fandome.
According to them, the role isn’t completely finalized. So like with all rumors, take it with a huge grain of salt. The Flashpoint film has been in pretty rough waters with various delays and problems. We reported last year that Andres Muschietti was directing the film. Following this news, the film won’t be a full adaptation of that storyline, but it will borrow from it.
Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the film won’t be starting up production until early next year at the earliest. DC has been setting up a multiverse in their shows and movies for awhile now, with the first crossing being Crisis On Infinite Earths. On that CW show, the film Flash, played by Ezra Miller, and the TV Flash, played by Grant Gustin, meet each other.
As for any other details, we’ll have to wait and see when Fandome comes around. We’ll keep you updated on this story if more information comes out.
