Insomniac Games finally leaks some new details about the story for their upcoming game Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Spidey Basics
On June 18, 2020; Insomniac Games revealed bit and pieces of the story for their Miles Morales game. For one thing, it takes place a year after the first Marvel’s Spider-Man game, also by Insomniac. The game’s story is also its own standalone thing, separate from the first game’s plot. The story will take place in New York City over Christmas, as evidenced by all the itty-bitty snow poffs falling everywhere. Alas, not even snow poffs and Santa can make everything better here. And when Krampus isn’t enough to sway the naughty kids, it’s time for Spider-Man to come hand out the hurt.
There’s a new war coming to NYC. This one is being fought between a criminal gang with way too many high-tech toys, and an energy corporation? It sounds bizarre, but then again, this particular corporation is Roxxon Energy. Given that Roxxon dreams of world domination via energy monopoly, they really can’t be up to any good here. This is especially ominous given that the Roxxon building appeared very prominently in the first game. Looks like Miles Morales will have his job cut out for him.
Lastly though, Miles’ appearance have fans wondering if the original Peter Parker is going to ride the one-way bus off the set like he did in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Fear not Spider-Man fans, because creative director Brian Horton says not to worry, because “we still have much of Peter’s story left to tell”. In fact, here’s a Twitter video straight from Insomniac that explains more:

Conclusion
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks like it’ll be a worthy sequel to the original 2018 game, and maybe even to Into the Spider-Verse. It’s set for release Holiday 2020, and it’s exclusive to the PS5. Looks like we’ll be slinging out the dough here come Christmas, so see you then.
