Marvel is reportedly resuming their search for an actress to play Kamala Khan, aka. Ms. Marvel, in their new Disney+ series of the same name.
Basics
On June 17, 2020; Heroic Hollywood reported that reporter Charles Murphy reported that Marvel Studios has resumed their search for an actress to play the lead role of Kamala Khan in their new Ms. Marvel Disney+ series. Apparently, this is due to Georgia (the state, not the country) opening up for filming again, so Marvel wants to take advantage of that. The Ms. Marvel series is set to be filmed in Atlanta, and allegedly filming could begin by the end of the summer. There’s one catch though: Murphy noted that he couldn’t get a second source to confirm this bit of news, so the word is to take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe two.
To top it all off, Disney hasn’t actually found anyone yet to play Kamala Khan. All the rumors say is that they’ve only just started looking for that special someone. With that viral pandemic still running around, this might take a while.
For those of you who’ve been living under a rock since 2014, Kamala Khan is the fourth and latest incarnation of the Ms. Marvel superheroine. Created by editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker, writer G. Willow Wilson, and artists Adrian Alphona and Jamie McKelvie; Khan is a teenaged Pakistani American living in Jersey City, NJ; with the power to shapeshift and heal. She’s also Marvel’s first Muslim character to have a lead role in her own comic. This, combined with her frankly adorable looks and personality, made her wildly popular. So popular, in fact, that she even has a major role in an anime called Marvel Future Avengers.
Conclusion
Disney and Marvel may be finally getting back to making a Ms. Marvel live action TV series for Disney+, so yay! On the other hand, they only just started looking for someone to play Kamala Khan, so it might take a while before we actually get to see the show. Eh, oh well. At least, we’re fairly certain that production is now starting, so that’s good news, at least. Tune in later for more Ms. Marvel news.
