Morbius & Venom

It looks like Sony plans on having a huge 2021. Today Sony announced that Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, and a slew of other films will be released on IMAX next year.

Sony Is In For A Big 2021

Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Morbius pushed to 2021

With the coronavirus pandemic halting all major film releases for the most part, Sony’s slate of summer films had to be pushed to 2021. Sony was already on track to having a huge 2021. With releases like Spider-Man 3 and Uncharted both releasing in the fall, the summer now will be equally as exciting. Venom, Morbius, and let’s not forget Ghostbusters: Afterlife are all coming soon.

Venom (2018)

With the success of last year’s Venom, anticipation has been high. Especially from fans who want to see Woody Harrelson’s Carnage finally appearing in a Marvel film. With Venom 2 and Spider-Man 3 both releasing in the same year could we finally see that epic meeting fans have been clamoring for? (And no, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 does not exist in my world).

Is Morbius The Future For Sony?

When Morbius was brought up as a title that Sony wanted to release, it was greeted with mixed emotions at first from fans. But all doubts were put to rest with the release of the teaser earlier this year. It looks like Sony might finally have its shit together when it comes to its Marvel properties.

Now that movie theaters are slowly opening this week, only time will tell if that old movie going experience can come back. The first major blockbuster releasing will be July’s TENET. Hopefully by then we will see how restrictions will either hinder or flourish moviegoers.

Morbius is scheduled for a May 19, 2021 release. Here’s the synopsis and trailer:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
