jedi temple challenge

As a kid growing up, some of the earliest game shows meant for kids were shows like Double Dare where kids attempted navigate obstacles and solve puzzles to win.  In the case of shows like Double Dare the path usually entailed a lot of slime, goop and mess along the way.  Starting this weekend, a new kid’s show kicks off that will allow young padawans to attempt their Jedi skills in a series of challenges.  The Jedi Temple Challenge begins this weekend!

Jedi Temple Challenge: The Evolution Continues

During the 80’s and 90’s the popularity of kid’s game shows exploded.  Thanks to new platforms like the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and other cable formats there was now room and demand for these shows.  Like most fads, though, they died off but not without leaving lots of slimy memories.

One year I took my family to Disneyland in California.  I was shocked to see there was now a Jedi training show that taught the children some moves and then allowed them to face-off against either Darth Vader or Darth Maul.  My son drew Lord Vader and was most impressive.  Sadly, this too has ended.  The feature ran from 2006-2018 but was mothballed when Galaxies Edge took shape.

Jedi Temple Challenge: The New Era

Starting Sunday, June 3 the newest era begins.  Two padawans join forces against other teams and compete in trials of strength and knowledge in this fully immersive format.  Check out the trailer for this event below:

This new show looks incredible!  These kids, win or lose, will be living out a dream.  They will dress as padawans, run through Star Wars inspired courses and test themselves to see if they have what it takes to become Jedi Knights.  The trailer looks like these tests will be both physically challenging as well as brain busting, so both kids will need their A-game.  Where was this stuff when I was a kid?!

By the way – did you recognize the host in the trailer? He muy muy bombad! That’s right! Former Jar Jar Binks actor Ahmed Best will be hosting this new challenge.

The show can be found on Star Wars kids on YouTube.com/starwarskids or Starwarskids.com
