Timothy Olyphant joins The Mandalorian‘s ever-growing cast in this latest announcement from Disney!

Somehow, that mug looks perfect for a Western.

On May 15, 2020; Disney announces through ComicBook.cp, that they’ve managed to snag Timothy Olyphant for the 2nd season of The Mandalorian. There’s no word yet though on just who Olyphant will be playing. We still don’t know if he’ll be playing a character unique to The Mandalorian, or if he’ll be playing a more famous character from the Star Wars universe who’ll be making a cameo in the show. All we know is that Olyphant is famous for playing tough lawman-type characters in such critically acclaimed Western shows such as Deadwood (as Sheriff Seth Bullock) and Justified (as US Marshal Raylan Givens). It’s a safe bet that he’ll be playing a similar character for The Mandalorian.

Raylan Givens, also played by Timothy Olyphant, probably about to shoot someone he wants to shoot.
I mean, seriously, take your finger off the trigger before you accidentally shoot Marvin!

It’s not just Olyphant who’ll be joining the cast though. Rosario Dawson will also be joining the cast of The Mandalorian, and better yet, she’ll be playing fan favorite Ahsoka Tano! It’ll be interesting to see what Anakin’s former Padawan has been up to after years of being presumed dead.

Not Timothy Olyphant.
Huh, they even have similar faces.

Temuera Morrison will also join the cast of The Mandalorian as our favorite presumed-dead bounty hunter, Boba Fett! I wonder if that means they’ll be explaining how he managed to survive being eaten by a sarlacc in Return of the Jedi? Well, one can hope.

Definitely not Timothy Olyphant.
Morrison will always be the true Fett.

Conclusion

The 2nd season of The Mandalorian looks like it’ll get an all-star ensemble to play with, given the addition of Timothy Olyphant to the cast. Does this mean that it’ll be the Star Wars version of Firefly that we’ve been waiting for? Tune in to Disney+ to find out, because The Mandalorian will debut in October 2020, come hell or COVID-19.
