COVID-19 continues to take its toll on upcoming film releases. Now Paramount Pictures has quietly delayed the release of the Dungeons And Dragons movie to May 27th, 2022. This moves it back six months from the original release date of November 19th, 2021.
This is one of a few films from Paramount to be delayed. The Dungeons And Dragons film was set to shart shooting this year to meet the November 2021 release date. But, due to the Global coronavirus pandemic, pretty much all movie and television productions are on hold right now.
We don’t yet know much about the movie, but we here at That Hashtag Show did report back in 2018 about the film’s script and Paramount hunting down the lead.
Dungeons and Dragons delayed
Comicbook.com also reported last year about their thoughts on what the film might feature. In their report, they mentioned that the Eye Of Vecna and the dragon Palarandusk. With respect to Palarandusk, they noted:
Palarandusk’s involvement hints that the movie will take place in the Forgotten Realms, the best known setting of the legendary tabletop game.
Now, Wizards Of The Coast has a lot of sourcebooks and campaign guides based in the Forgotten Realms. So, Paramount will have a lot of Dungeons and Dragons material with which to work.
We also know now that John Frances Daly and Jonathan Goldstein have taken over writing the film’s script. There is so much that could happen in the film, hopefully, Paramount won’t mess this film up. But…
We’ll have to wait until 2022 to find out if their Dungeons and Dragons film succeeds.
