If you missed this morning’s news from the wrestling world, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival were released from their WWE contracts. WWE.com reported the news and they were wished well in their next endeavors. The Revival were one of the brightest spots in the early NXT tag-team scene. They wrestled matches with all kinds of teams, DIY, American Alpha, Authors of Pain, etc.. Those matches were the kind that would light tag-team wrestling on fire. When they were brought up to the main roster, some of that fire was put out. Tag-teams aren’t given as much of a spotlight on the WWE main roster. Following this, there was a big campaign earlier last year for them to get released. AEW was firing on all cylinders.
People were clamoring to see The Revival wrestle the likes of the Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and the rest of the Elite. Those thoughts were dashed however. WWE tried placating Dash and Scott with a Tag-Team Title run and a push. It wouldn’t be enough and the rumblings of asking for a release were back. Now, we finally have that day. So where do we think that Dawson and Wilder are going to show up?
5. All Elite Wrestling
Let’s start off with the most likely and easiest one to guess. AEW. The seeds have been planted for this move for some time now. The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes started their “Fuck The Revival” catchphrase just to dig at Dawson and Wilder. Their style fits better in the style of All Elite Wrestling anyway. Think of all the matches they could have with the different stars of AEW. It boggles the mind. Well because this one was such a softball, we’ll get to the next one on the list.
4. AEW
As if it wasn’t already obvious, AEW would be the perfect place for the Revival. They’ll be able to wrestle the Young Bucks finally. Those two teams could wrestle for a solid year straight and I’m not sure people would get tired of seeing it. If TNT allows it, the money is already in The Elite just saying “Fuck The Revival”. In addition, they can wrestle the Lucha Bros, the Inner Circle, the Butcher and the Blade, and any of the other tag teams or factions in AEW. It would be magic.
