Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for home video release later this month. Thanks to IGN, we have a new preview clip ahead of the digital and Blu-Ray release to tide us over:
This scene in particular was treat for everyone. The clip from Rise of Skywalker shows Rey and Luke’s Force Ghost talking about Leia’s Lightsaber. It shows the last night of Leia’s training where she and Luke are together with their respected lightsabers.
Now, while the clip of Leia’s face seems to be from one of the older films, Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd is doing all of the motion capture in the scene. While Rise of Skywalker was a very divisive film among critics and fans, scenes like this make the movies very enjoyable. There could be other scenes like this one that got cut for fans to watch for the first time.
This is an interesting clip because we see Rey get Leia’s lightsaber and to carry on her legacy. Now in what capacity we’ll see Rey again is completely unknown. You can watch this clip when Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker releases March 17th on Digital. Following that it comes out March 31st for 4K, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
It’s a treat to see scenes like this get more fleshed out, but one can wonder. Why didn’t something like this make the final cut of the film. Hopefully we get those answers in the home video release of Rise of Skywalker. I’ll be buying it for sure when it comes out. There are too many scenes in the film that are going to be rewatchable.
