The Mandalorian fans have been waiting a while now to get their hands on the new The Child merchandise. The Child and other toys were due to release later this year. Well, now it is possible that they will have to wait a little longer due to the Coronavirus according to CNN.
Coronavirus sickening the Pop Culture world
We are already seeing the affects of the Coronavirus in the Pop Culture world. Comic Cons across the country are seeing delays of exclusive items and many guest and vendor cancellations. C2E2 in Chicago and Emerald City Comic Con in Washington are the most recent to be hit with this. Many comic artists and guests were unable to make it to C2E2, mostly because of flight restrictions. This also caused a few vendors and panels to be canceled as well. ECCC currently is seeing a massive exiting from major vendors like DC, Dark Horse, and FiGPiN to name a few.
Hasbro talks about the impact of the virus
According to Hasbro it has been forced to contend with the Coronavirus and delays in a email they sent CNN Business. Here is what Hasbro’s CFO Deborah Thomas had to say:
“We are working to mitigate the impact of our manufacturing partner factories being closed longer than anticipated, as well as to reschedule the shipments we have not been able to make.” Also in the email Hasbro said the Coronavirus “could have a significant impact on our revenues, profitability, and business.“
So, what does this mean for “The Child” and other toys?
Are we going to have to wait longer for “The Child” and other Hasbro toys? According to industry expert Jim Silver the Coronavirus hasn’t delayed production yet after talking with the factories that Hasbro works with. But it is not smooth sailing according to a statement Silver gave CNN.
“If things are not normal by the time June and July roll around, there will be shortages on a litany of toys.”
