[Warning: May contain spoilers for The Clone Wars Season 7.] Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 is finally upon us. (You can check out our episode guide HERE.) We already know from previews and trailers that Ahsoka Tano will be front and center as the series progresses. That has many fans wondering how she’ll make it through the Clone Wars and survive Order 66. Fans of the growing, new-canon expanded Star Wars universe already know, however…. And it appears the show will have big tie-ins to the Ahsoka novel.
Disney-Lucasfilm Press published E.K. Johnston’s Ahsoka in 2016. The story chronicles the character’s time between her leaving the Jedi Order and becoming “Fulcrum” in Star Wars Rebels. Part of that narrative details Ahsoka’s leadership of Republic forces during the Siege of Mandalore. Included in the Ahsoka novel is reference to her duel with Maul, the very one we’ve seen previewed.
Clone Wars tie-in to Ahsoka novel
Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni is usually pretty good when it comes to continuity. Such is the case especially with respect to Ahsoka Tano. Filoni also had a hand in producing the Ahsoka novel, after all:
The fans want more Ahsoka and we are going to give it to you, and since I’ve been there since the beginning I am dedicated to working with publishing to help make this book as authentic a part of her story as if we filmed it for the series.”
Now that he’s had a chance to actually film more of the series, there’s a high likelihood we’ll see some more of the events from the Ahsoka novel on screen. The aforementioned duel between Ahsoka Tano and Maul is a foregone conclusion. Beyond that? The final season of the series will lead up to Revenge of the Sith. If we’re lucky, it will actually cross over with those events, too. If it does, we may very well get to see the clones turn on Ahsoka, and her daring escape with Captain Rex as set forth in the book.
If the duel with Maul is any indication, we fully expect more action from the Ahsoka novel to follow.
