The well-known YouTube series “How It Should Have Ended” has tackled Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The ending which has polarized fans has received the HISHE treatment and it does not disappoint. The video covers many ways the movie could have, or even should have, ended.
The Many Plot Holes
The video shows different ways that many fans believed the movie could have ended. The video starts off with Kylo Ren striking down the Emperor. Many fans have talked about what could have happened had Kylo killed the Emperor right away instead of listening to him and following his orders throughout the film. Another scenario depicts C-3PO finally standing up for himself and not helping the Resistance defeat the First Order.
How It Really Should Have Ended…
The satirical video shows how the movie really should have ended and it’s an ending many fans were hoping to see. We see Rey call upon all of the Force ghost Jedi and use their help to defeat Emperor Palpatine. In the film we hear the voices of Jedi past but we never get to see them take any form or fight along side the sequel trilogy hero.
The ending of the film has divided many fans of the franchise. The debate is no surprise to long time fans. The recent decisions in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker have left many feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. The most recent release of the Star Wars franchise had some fans calling for Disney to release the “JJ cut,” as some felt they were left with a poor ending to a 42-year long journey.
The Rise of Skywalker Got It Right
The ending of Skywalker was going to be debated and argued about for years to come. The ending to long, cinematic journey was never going to be loved by all. The Rise of Skywalker did everything right in my opinion. It gave us the end of trilogy that wasn’t without its ups and downs, but it also gave us the ending to a saga. This story that many have followed their entire lives concluded. This conclusion is the hero, the good guys, standing tall and overcoming evil. The Star Wars story was always meant to be simple. Good vs. evil and good always prevailing.
The Rise of Skywalker gave us all the ending that it we knew it would. The story of Star Wars tells us the good guys win and evil loses. Star Wars is full of intricate stories and lore, and we cannot let that be dismissed. With that, George Lucas set out to make a movie and story for kids to enjoy and love and that is what Star Wars is really about. Like it or not Star Wars is for the kids. I believe the reason it is still so beloved around the world is it brings out the kid in all of us, and the Jedi’s we all believe we can be. Star Wars did what we all knew it would and that is the Jedi doing what is right and winning.

Star Wars isn’t meant to be, in your words, “Simple. Good vs. evil and good always prevailing.” You think that a franchise this hyped, this popular, and complex, is supposed to be a cheesy “good guys always win” kid’s show?! Disney may have made it seem that way, but let me just say, Disney really screwed this up for long-time fans. I’m pretty young to be this big of a fan, but I know more about Star Wars then would ever prove useful to anyone or anything. I would know. My only rebuttals are that you specified my point of view, and the article was well written. But really, I’d rather watch the end of Megamind then watch this outrageous ending.
