If you’re like me (okay, if you’re an older Star Wars fan like me), you grew up looking forward to Sunday mornings. Sure, sure, Saturday mornings were all about cartoons. But Sunday morning meant the Sunday funnies, a/k/a the full color comics section of the Sunday newspaper. In this day and technological age, however, paper media just doesn’t have the reach it once did. So allow us to give you some digital funnies to start off your day. Because, honestly, who doesn’t love some Star Wars bloopers?
From Harrison Ford flubbing his lines, to R2-D2 falling over, the original trilogy was certainly full of Star Wars bloopers. In watching the footage above, one can’t help but smile and appreciate what went into creating one of the biggest film franchises of all time. One of these outtakes even shows Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) on fire while filming Return of the Jedi! My personal favorite, however, just may be the cardboard cut-out rancor.
Star Wars bloopers: Making us laugh for four decades
Of course, the crew of the prequel trilogy wasn’t going to let the original trilogy gang have all the fun. They account for their own fair share of frivolity on set. The prequels are often criticized for overuse of CGI and lack of focus on practical effects and sets. It certainly shows in the Star Wars bloopers from the prequels. A good portion of the outtakes from those films rely on set failures for comic relief:
Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is out, I’m sure we’ll be seeing our fair share of Star Wars bloopers from the sequel trilogy as well. Until we get a full blooper reel for all three films, we hope you’ll enjoy these Star wars bloopers with your coffee this fine Sunday morning.
May the Force be with you!
