In 1977 Kenner released the original twelve Star Wars action figures. And until 2013 action figures were primarily 3 ¾” scale. However, in 2013 and 2014, Hasbro took a chance and released a two waves of 6″ figures geared towards collectors. They dubbed this new line the “Black Series.” It contained a higher level of detail, articulation, and versatility which no one had seen in the traditional Star Wars scale before.
Those first two waves were known as the orange wave and blue wave. It saw the release of fan favorite characters such as Boba Fett, Darth Maul, and R2-D2. If you are an adult collector of Star Wars action figures you probably are well aware of the 6” Black Series. You would also know that while the Black Series 6” line has seen most of the popular Star Wars characters from all movies from the original Episode IV straight through the most recent The Rise of Skywalker.
Just Show Me The New Black Series Figure Already!
Enough with the mini history of Star Wars action figures. Hasbro is finally getting around to some of the most popular minor Star Wars iconic figures. 2018 and 2019 saw the release of figures like Jawa, Gamorrean Guard and Admiral Ackbar. Over at Yakface.com, they claim to have the first look at the rumored 6” Black Series Imperial Probe Droid.
They’ve changed the packaging several times since the first Black Series line back in 2013 and it would appear to have changed again. Looking at the box, we can see it includes a The Empire Strikes Back logo on the packaging. There are reports that people have spotted it at a Walmart in Chicago, IL. However, there has been no official announcement from Hasbro when this figure is being released and it is not available for pre-order on websites like Amazon.com or EntertainmentEarth.com.
