The multi-award winning Broadway production from Lin Manuel Miranda, Hamilton, is coming to cinemas. Now just to be clear, this is not an adaptation of the musical. The original cast will be performing on the film. While that’s not as exciting as a film adaptation; some might not have been able to see the smash hit show.
So, this means that the original cast is appearing. The original Broadway cast appearing in the film include Tony Award® winners Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton. Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson. Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler. Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr. Tony Award® nominees Christopher Jackson as George Washington. Jonathan Groff as King George. Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds. It finally stars Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.
What Makes This Release of Hamilton Special?
The press release touts that this will be a “leap forward in the art of ‘live capture.’ This movie transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way. Combining the best elements of live theater and film, the result is a cinematic stage performance that is a wholly new way to experience Hamilton.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda created an unforgettable theater experience and a true cultural phenomenon, and it was for good reason that Hamilton was hailed as an astonishing work of art. All who saw it with the original cast will never forget that singular experience. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share this same Broadway experience with millions of people around the world.

Why This Is Going To Be Awesome
It’s looking like this is shaping up to be a treat for fans of the show and newcomers alike. You’ll get to see the original cast if you missed out on Hamilton while it was on it’s record-breaking run on Broadway. If you were a lucky one to see that cast, you can re-live their legendary performances. I’m normally not a fan of musicals but Hamilton was one that caught my attention. Being able to see the show from the best seats in the house will be a particular treat. Finally, Hamilton arrives in theaters, October 15th, 2021.
Fans of musicals and Disney alike are likely to be excited by this news. This has to lead to an adaptation by Disney somewhere down the line. I’m sure they’re just testing the waters for it with this film version. Following this news, if/when that happens, you’ll hear about it first at That Hashtag Show.
