[Warning: Article contains some spoilers for various Star Wars titles. Scroll down for a sneak peek of Clone Wars Season 7, too!] December was certainly a whirlwind month for Star Wars. We of course saw the forty-plus year episodic film saga come to an end with The Rise of Skywalker. With no further sequels planned, and no other Star Wars films in general planned until 2022, all eyes turn now to Disney+. December also saw the exciting season finale of The Mandalorian. Its cliffhanger ending with Moff Gideon wielding the Darksaber has fans clamoring for more…. But we won’t see Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) and The Child again until the fall of 2020. So what’s up next for Star Wars? None other than The Clone Wars Season 7.
You often hear the phrase” back by popular” demand. In this case it’s the literal truth. One of Disney’s first decisions after acquiring Lucasfilm was to cancel The Clone Wars in favor of Star Wars Rebels. (In hindsight, most are thankful for the stories Rebels presented us, including Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return to Star Wars canon.) But something just felt… unsettled. Not only for fans, but even for show creator Dave Filoni. The Clone Wars Season 7 is the direct result of fan desire to see the final stories of their beloved series told.
The Clone Wars Season 7 Arrives February 2020
Watch below for a sneak peek of some unfinished scenes from Season 7:
Clone Wars Season 7 appears to pick up after a brief time lag from the events of the prior seasons. The first images from the new season depicted a slightly older Ahsoka Tano together with the Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze. Clone Wars Season 7 will presumably bridge the final gap between the prior seasons and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Given Bo-Katan’s presence in the trailer, expect the season to follow more of the conflict on Mandalore. It will also, judging by released images, clue us in on how Darth Sidious would utilize Maul following Season 5’s episode The Lawless.
Though Lucasfilm has not yet told us the actual release date, we expect an announcement, and new trailer, any time now. Until then, Let us know what you’d like to see in Clone Wars Season 7 in the comments below.
Otherwise, to catch up, you can now stream past seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+.
