The Black Widow trailer is finally here! Natasha Romanov has existed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man 2. After over twenty films, however, the master Russian spy still found herself relegated to the ensemble films of the MCU. Well, wait no more. Nat is finally getting her own movie. This marks just the second time in the MCU a female hero will star in her own feature film, following 2018’s Captain Marvel.

This film is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, necessarily so. Remember: Nat sacrificed herself on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame so that Hawkeye could retrieve the soul stone. In the Black Widow trailer, however, we see Nat venture back to Russia to reunite with her “other family”. Together they’ll help her face her past, and stop running from it.

Black Widow trailer full of action

Joining Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) are Florence Pugh (as Nat’s sister Yelena), David Harbour (as an overweight Red Guardian), and Rachel Weisz (Melina, a/k/a the Iron Maiden). The “family” of Assassins “go back to where it started” to presumably face whatever nefarious evil Natasha’s been running from for so long.

In the Black Widow trailer we also get our first, good look at Taskmaster, one of the chief villains of the film. Though we only get a glimpse, Black Widow looks like it will feature the same, cinematic spectacle as its MCU predecessors. And well it should, as this will *officially* kick off Phase 4 of the Marvel film franchise.

Expect more teasers from Marvel over the next several months, as we won’t see Natasha in action on the big screen until May 1, 2020. Until then, watch, enjoy, and dissect this Black Widow trailer and let us know your thoughts her at That Hashtag Show.
