Disney CEO Bob Iger made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday. Iger finally opened up about Spider-Man’s return to the MCU. The CEO even spoke out on how Tom Holland cried to save the day!

Iger broke down Tom’s elaborate plan to get the web-slinger back into the MCU. He explained how Tom was invited to D23 to promote Onward, an upcoming movie set to be released in 2020. In the event, Holland approached Disney Higher-ups in hopes to acquire Iger’s personal information. Iger revealed that Holland was successful in reaching him, and that that Holland even cried on the phone. Iger was quick to clarify it was a joke. He stated:

No, not really. But it was clear that he cared so much. And we care a lot about him. And he’s a great Spider-Man, isn’t he? I felt for him and it was clear that the fans wanted all this to happen.”

Iger later went on talking about how he approached the matter. First, he explained how he spoke with some Disney team members before making the big call to Sony. He told Kimmel, “I said, ‘we’ve got to figure out a way to get this done. For Tom and for the fans”. To that Kimmel answered with “like two divorced parents coming together and figuring it out.” A big laugh from the crowd followed.

Tom Holland: Savior of Spider-Man

Tom Holland has really outdone himself this time. The actor has proven himself worthy to keep carrying the Spider-Man name. It had been chaos since Sony announced their “break-up” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The situation indicated that Sony was going on their own Spider-Man path and the MCU to move on without him. Worldwide Spider-Man fans were devastated with the news. Spider-Man himself Tom Holland was devastated by it. Having already appeared in five MCU movies, the actor wasn’t ready to leave the franchise yet.

Taking it upon himself to talk to the higher-ups in Disney showed what this role means to him and the fans. It is probably fair to say that this “break-up” might have been resolved anyway. Although… it likely could’ve been a longer period time. I think we can all agree that Tom’s actions definitely accelerated this process.

Tom’s accomplishment will not go unnoticed. The now-promised third installment of the web-slinger series coming in 2021 has definitely calmed the world down. He acted as a true Peter Parker and fought for the greater good Only this time he didn’t have to use his webs”. this time Tom Holland cried to save the day!
