The revitalization of The Lion King by Disney using the cutting-edge 3D animation of The Jungle Book is coming to your home. Releasing on digital on October 11th and Blu-ray on October 22nd, you’ll be able to take the record breaking film home with you. The timeless story of Simba, Nala, and the rest of the animal kingdom’s favorites comes for a new generation with this release.
Directed by Jon Favreau, this film utilizes the same lifelike digital animation of The Jungle Book. It looks photo-realistic but is 100% computer generated. It follows the similar story of the 1994 film of the same name. The Blu-ray and digital releases don’t just contain the film. In addition to that, you’ll be getting loads of extras and bonus features. Some highlights include a feature about how the animation was done, and a documentary about how the cast feels about the film and it’s legacy. The final extras include music videos and a documentary about the Lion Recovery Fund. This extra is particularly important as it highlights Lion conservation.
Why The Lion King?
The film has a cast that’s almost too large to mention all at once. Donald Glover stars as Simba and Beyonce Knowles stars as Nala in the two featured roles. Chiwetel Ejiofor lends his voice to the villanous Scar while James Earl Jones returns as his foil, the wise Mufasa. The rest of the cast includes, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Keegan Michael-Key, Eric Andre, John Oliver, and Florence Kasumba.
The Lion King is a timeless story that doesn’t need any introduction. This new release is that same story that you know and love, just modernized for a new generation. Check it out when it releases on digital on October 11th and Blu-ray on October 22nd.
