We are just 100 days away from Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker releasing into theaters. And it’s looking like the film still isn’t done yet.
So, it had been reported back in early August that the film had completed reshoots. But now Making Star Wars has released a video, and it has some new info on the status of the film.
What Does This All Mean?
The new rumors are saying that the film has been in secret reshoots for a few weeks. These reshoots do not mean the film in is any trouble. there might be some things that have to get fixed.
A source close to Making Star Wars has said this about this set of reshoots:
Rey and crew do get attacked by a sandworm alien, which reveals an inexplicable new super power Rey possess: the power to heal or even rejuvenate life. The heroes battle the creature and almost kill the worm and then she uses her powers to repair, or heal, or even bring it back to life.
Reddit user Jedi Paxis has mentioned that:
The only other part where my info differs is that I was told that instead of our heroes almost killing the worm, the worm basically has our heroes backed into a metaphorical corner and the healing is what allows them to survive and escape. The main story beat is the same, but some of the details panning out one way vs the other has slightly different implications on Rey’s character. Yours makes it sound like it was an act done from a place of power and out of pity while mine implies compassion in the face of danger.
One other interesting thing that Making Star Wars pointed out: there is a line that Rey says when someone asks what her name is. She responded with:
Rey, Rey Skywalker.
Conclusions To Be Drawn
That is pretty interesting and also mysterious. But we will have to wait and see what happens. Usually reshoots are a problem for films like Rogue One but in this case it seems like it’s just going to be fixing up parts of the film that need a bit more juice.
