Marvel just can’t quite keep itself from dropping bombshell announcements at conventions. At Comic-Con International in San Diego, Kevin Feig announced the next phase of the MCU. Now, at D23 Expo 2019, we learned of three new Marvel series for Disney+. Among them? She Hulk!
In the comics, She Hulk was a cousin of Bruce Banner. After an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce, she inherits his… condition. She never fully hulks-out like Banner did, though. Instead she retains much of original personality and just becomes a bigger, stronger, and, well, greener version of herself.
She Hulk comes to Disney+
The Jennifer Waters character (Banner’s cousin) will likely take on more of the feel of professor Hulk from Avengers: Endgame. Some criticized the Hulk’s character arch through the Infinity War movies. She Hulk, on the other hand, existed in a partly-human, mostly-green state from the get go. How they’ll work with the character remains to be seen.
Given the fact that the Hulk was permanently injured when he wielded the Infinity Gauntlet in Endgame, we’ve likely scene the last of his fighting days. Perhaps that was the plan all along. Kevin Feige has, after all, been the mastermind behind the MUC for over a decade. There seemed to have always been a plan. She Hulk, it seems was part of that plan.
Of course, this wasn’t the only bombshell announcement for Disney+. Disney also confirmed one of the hottest, recent rumors by bringing Ewan McGregor out on state to officially announce the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. She Hulk, though, still remained one of the biggest surprises.
