Looking for another take on the superheor genre? Extraterrestrials will come to Earth in We Can Be Heroes. This time thy will snatch all the superheroes in the world. That compels their children to save the planet and their parents. We’ve just learned that Priyanka Chopra Jonas will play a protagonist in the new Netflix superhero film.
While Deadline reported that Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Alita: Battle Angel) will direct We Can Be Heroes, it was That Hashtag Show that was able to provide exclusive character breakdowns for the upcoming film.
The film promises to be an interesting twist within the superhero genre.
Some have complained that Hollywood is making too many superhero films. Thus, perhaps such critics could find themselves feeling differently in their theater when superheroes are gone. Families apparently will also enjoy We Can Be Heroes. Especially children. That’s because kids could identify with other children playing a role that is usually switched. (Children usually enjoy that anyway. How much do they enjoy having the power when playing with their parents?)
Children can feel empowered seeing We Can Be Heroes as they did when seeing Spy Kids.
Rodriguez indeed directed Spy Kids as well. Is the director interested in seeing more children as superheroes?
ComingSoon.net’s Grant Hermanns described We Can Be Heroes as “secretive”, and wrote that:
The project has been kept under the radar thus far, with the writer/director and the streaming service holding their cards close to their chest. “But the film is currently in production and the tone seems to be leaning towards Rodriguez’s more light-natured fare such as the Spy Kids films and Alita: Battle Angel.”
Alita made more than $400 million in ticket sales and is rapidly earning a “cult following” just six months after debuting, Hermanns wrote. He added that the tone of We Can Be Heroes will reflect that seen in Spy Kids and Alita: Battle Angel.
The film Isn’t It Romantic recently saw Jonas work with Liam Hemsworth. Jonas will next be seen in The Sky Is Pink, about Aisha Chaudhary, a motivational speaker.
