If you played Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands in 2016, you would have enjoyed a massive open-world with squad based gameplay. That game was such a critical and commercial success that Ubisoft greenlit a sequel to the game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. This time around, the co-op gameplay of the first game is back but with a twist. If you play single-player, it’s just you. No squad teammates anymore to help you in the fight.

The Auroa Archipelago is your new playground in this game. A land of diverse terrain, weather patterns, and people in the South Pacific. The antagonist this time isn’t an evil drug kingpin, but a team of Ghosts gone rogue. In control of Auroa’s powerful technology because of the company Skell Technologies. It’s going to take more tactical maneuvers from your squad to take down your fellow Ghosts that have fallen from grace.

The game promises realistic depictions of combat and realistic movements from your Ghost. If you climb up a steep slope, you might slip and fall. If you get shot at or damaged, you could become injured, affecting your stamina. Being a Tom Clancy game, stealth is also key to surviving against the enemy. Ubisoft is promising an updated AI system meaning that no two enemies will be the same. Breakpoint releases October 4th on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.

The next game is another installment in the Xbox exclusive series. Gears 5 is a third person shooter that follows up the story of Gears of War 4. The Swarm has defeated the Coalition. Human cities are in danger of being wiped out. Protagonist of Gears 4, JD Fenix will be returning in a non-player role. The new protagonist is half-Locust, half-human, Kait Diaz. She’s going off on her own to figure out the origins of the Locust and her own family. The world is going to hell and it’s up to her and the rest of the Gears to fight.

In addition to the deepest campaign experience in a Gears game, developer The Coalition is promising a full five modes of content for players to sink their teeth into. Horde mode comes back bigger and better than ever. Escape is a new mode designed for co-op teams of three to escape a hive with a bomb that is rigged to blow. Versus mode is the online multiplayer mode that has new additions like Arcade and Competitive. Finally, the Map Builder is new to Gears. You can create maps and play with them. You’ll be able to download popular user created maps for your own fun.

Gears 5 comes out September 10th on Xbox One and PC. It’ll be available the day of release on Game Pass Ultimate for users who subscribe to that service as well.
