Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been out since last October. Treyarch continually adds new content to the game in addition to the Season Pass. The newest batch of content is an addition to the Operation Apocalypse event that started last month. Treyarch has their faults as a Call of Duty developer, but they don’t skimp out on new content for players. A game this deep into it’s life cycle would probably be dead to the developer. But Treyarch values it’s fans enough to provide content for them. For fans of all the modes of Black Ops 4, you get a little something.
Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Shaken Up
The fast and frenetic game play of Call of Duty gets new additions in multiplayer with this update. A new game mode called “Infected: Final Stand” is the standout from this update. In “Final Stand”, players get placed on either the human or zombie team. Humans have one life. The Zombies have respawns but at a limit. The Zombies have to hunt the Humans before the time runs out. Teams alternate each round until someone wins four rounds. This new mode will require different strategy than normal games of Black Ops 4. I’m extremely excited to see what it takes to win in this game mode.
Call of Duty is really all about the weapons though. In this newest update player get access to the fabled M16 tactical rife and the Havelina AA50 sniper rifle. They’ve also made balancing changes to the S6 Stingray’s Operator Mod.
These two new weapons will go into the Reserves and Ultra Weapon Bribe. The newest Contraband rewards will also go into the sixty tiers of progression across the three main game modes. The final update is to the Contract reward rate. Players are guaranteed at least one normal Contract with a Reserve Case reward in addition to the XP bonus for completing it.
Blackout Gets New Toys
Starting with Blackout, the battle royale mode in Black Ops 4. The newest mode is “Pandemic”. In this limited time mode, 80 players compete to last the longest in the apocalypse. The kicker is that if you’re eliminated, it’s not time to start a new game. You’re a zombie.
The zombie players aren’t chumps though. You get super speed, higher jumping, the ability to breath underwater, and you can track the surviving human players. The zombies are a mix of human and CPU players. So if you’re still alive, you need to be on your toes. This is a play on the “Infected” game mode from Call of Duty multiplayer. The final product is a pulse-pounding final showdown between an army of zombies and the last remaining humans.
In addition to this, Blackout gets access to the Tactical Bike. This is a vehicle that fits two, one driving and one in a sidecar. The final addition is the Ray Gun MKII in Blackout’s Mystery Boxes. The blending of game modes in Blackout is an interesting idea that I like how Treyarch has performed.
Don’t Forget About Call of Duty Zombies Mode
This block of content is themed around zombies as a whole. You wouldn’t expect Treyarch, the creator of Zombies mode, to forget about it. The newest content this time around is centered around Camp Edward. In “Duck and Cover” you get new rewards such as: Calling Cards and Nebulium Plasma at rounds 10, 20, and 30. Treyarch is challenging people to get perfect runs on their first try.
The Ray Gun MKII isn’t just for Blackout though. It makes a return to Zombies in Mystery Boxes on “Blood of the Dead” and “Classified”. The update doesn’t add the Ray Gun, it provides fixes for other weapons. The Reaver C86, Argus, and Locus will all be tuned. Other small bug patches and fixes are in store for players also.
These updates all go live on Playstation 4 today and on Xbox One and PC next Tuesday August, 13th. A complete list of the updates can be found on the Black Ops 4 Reddit page.
