While Michael Chabon has been working on Star Trek: Picard since the beginning, his new position gives him more control over the direction of the show. The Deadline article that broke the news didn’t reveal any new details about the show, however.
Michael Chabon originally joined the writer’s room as an E.P. last fall. Chabon is already familiar with the new Star Trek world, having written the Short Trek episodes, Calypso and Chaos Theory. He’s also an accomplished novelist and will be writing the upcoming movie M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, based on the cartoon from the 80’s.
Star Trek: Picard will premiere late 2019 on CBS All Access. You can read our breakdown of the first trailer right here. Also, if you’re not afraid of potential spoilers, you can also check out our exclusive reveal of character breakdowns that shed some light on what we can expect story-wise.
If you still need more information, the next few weeks should be exciting. In the middle of July we have SDCC and then not long after is Star Trek Las Vegas. Between both those events we’ll hopefully get a release date, another trailer, and some new interviews with cast and crew.
