The trailer for Peter Hearn‘s Fantasy/Horror film Scrawl dropped today and I honestly don’t know what to make of it. It might turn out to be good, but based on this trailer, I don’t have high hopes.
In the film, A boy writes a comic book with his best friend and finds situations depicted in the comic book coming to life. Along with the appearance of a mysterious girl, the boy must face the reality of what he has written and begins a battle to attempt to rewrite death.
On the surface, Scrawl looks like it could be a horror version of Fight Club. Maybe the main character is unaware he is actually taking on the persona of the characters he’s written? This isn’t a new concept, Hide and Seek, starring Robert De Nero and Dakota Fanning, from 2005 springs to mind.
Will “Scrawl” be Death to Daisy Ridley’s Career?
If Scrawl turns out to be underwhelming, it’s not a good sign for Ridley. Just a few weeks ago Chaos Walking was reportedly written off as “unwatchable”. The good news is, this movie is old. It’s actually from 2015. most likely shot before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now that Daisy Ridley is more of a household name, even if this movie is DOA, it shouldn’t have too much of an impact on her career. . . hopefully, Chaos Walking won’t either.
Maybe you guys feel differently though. Watch the trailer for Scrawl and let us know what you think in the comments. Personally, I’ll be waiting for Netflix . . . and I’ll probably keep waiting even after it drops there.
