Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day launches on May 15th, 2020. This game is one of the coolest game announcements coming out of E3: 2019, thanks to a pretty awesome trailer:
And thanks to IGN, we now have a little bit more information on the game, and what to expect.
How Cap’s Death Impacts The Team
Shaun Escayg, the lead creative director and writer at Crystal Dynamics, had mentioned that Cap dying is going to lead to some pretty big decisions down the line for the remaining team. Escayg did mention that for Avengers: A-Day:
Well, Cap went down with the ship. The Avengers’ leader is Cap. The guy who always is logical, who always is able to bring this dysfunctional family together. Without him, how do they cope? This is part of the setup, part of the conflict. It’s, to me, the most exciting part of the story. What do the Avengers do without their beloved Captain?”
Captain America Is Playable In Avengers: A-Day
So with the news of Cap being a playable character, this could lead to a players seeing a different version of Steve Rodgers in Avengers: A-Day. Escayg teased:
You’ll understand more once you play the game. The Marvel universe is huge. Will it resolve in this game? Who knows. Is this something else? Who knows. The things that we draw from, it’s so big. We can pull from multiverses at this point.”
So the Marvel multiverse could come into play in this game.
The Character Costumes
The costumes The Avengers were wearing in the trailer were pretty cool. I do love that Black Widow’s costume looks similar to the 2008 Marvel’s Avengers movie costume. Escayg that said that:
We are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community. There are currently no plans to change our character designs. “
While the costumes themselves won’t be changed, they will be improved closer to the game launching.
Marvel’s Avengers: A-Day looks like it will be a pretty amazing game. It launches May 15th, 2020 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, Stadia, and PC.
