After the initial report from a few weeks ago, it’s official: Robert Pattinson has landed the role of Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman in Warner Bros’ upcoming reboot of the Caped Crusader. According to Deadline Hollywood, Pattinson and X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult were the final candidates for the role as it all went down yesterday at Warner Bros.
Per the trade, executives were torn between the two actors. Therefore, the pair had their final screen tests at the studio. But Matt Reeves, who is directing the upcoming trilogy, had set his eyes for Pattinson to become the next actor to wear the famous cowl. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is looking to make the announcement “imminently.”
Pre-production is looking to start sometime in the summer. According to UK Production News, it would appear that The Batman might be filming in London sometime in the fall. Granted, there wouldn’t necessarily be a trailer to show. Still, it wouldn’t surprise us if Reeves and Pattinson crash Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Maybe they’ll bring fans a little something for The Batman. Perhaps a costume reveal? A full cast announcement? Anything is possible when it comes to Warner Bros.
Robert Pattinson is officially The Batman
Reeves’ vision for his take on Batman is to focus heavily on the detective side of the Dark Knight. That’s in general contrast to previous film versions of the character. While it won’t be a full-on origin story, it will depict the famous detective in his younger age, but still being a few years into his journey as Gotham City’s guardian angel.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman arrives in theaters on June 25, 2021. Are you excited for Robert Pattinson to be the next Batman? Who else do you want to see in the upcoming reboot?
