At All Elite Wrestling’s inaugural Double or Nothing event, we found out who would be facing off for the absolutely gorgeous (and expensive) AEW World Title.
Hangman Page, who was previously schedule to face PAC, ended up in 21-man Casino Battle Royale as a surprise. He entered last, and threw over MJF to earn his spot in the future championship match. Later that night, Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega in the main event. In doing so he earn his right to face Hangman Page for the AEW World Title.
Jericho has had a busy couple of days. Main eventing Double or Nothing was huge. HOwever, it’s his episode of Talk is Jericho with Jon Moxley that has the entire wrestling world talking. So much so, that Jericho appeared on Bully Ray and Dave LaGreca’s Busted Open Radio, where Chris had some more news to drop. He confirmed that his AEW World Title match against Hangman Page will happen at AEW ALL OUT in Chicago. An even that will take place Labor Day weekend, almost a year to the date that ALL IN took place.
World Titles for Jericho?
Hopefully Jericho doesn’t look too far ahead to that match, because he has another huge match before ALL OUT. At NJPW’s Dominion event taking place on June 6th in Osaka, Jericho will face off against Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Could Chris Jericho be a double champion come the end of August?
All Elite Wrestling has two more events announced before ALL OUT: Fyter Fest in June and Fight for the Fallen in July. Neither Hangman Page or Chris Jericho have matches on either of those events as of this posting. Whatever AEW has planned for Jericho/Page, we know that it’s already been planned out. As Cody Rhodes has been quoted as saying that AEW has the next six months to a year’s worth of stories planned.
