Is There Even an Iron Throne Left in the Game of Thrones Finale?
Before we delve into who sits the Iron Throne, the real question is – Is there even an Iron Throne to sit upon? Dani and Drogon leveled the castle. The actual throne is either buried under tons of rubble or destroyed all together. Does Dani dig it out? Does she simply say she is the ruler of the seven kingdoms and move the capital back to Dragonstone?
Or is there a chance there will be no throne at all? What if the kingdoms all declare independence and refuse an over seeing monarch? I think this would take some key deaths, but it is possible.
Arya Stark – The Girl with a Name
Arya, like Bron, also screams “character with a destiny yet to play out”. She was an assassin, but is she still? Sandor stopped her needless death by turning her around inside the keep, but what did that scene mean? Has she turned her back on her assassin life to become a Stark once more? Or does she have one more assassination to carry out before her story is finished?
Amidst the destruction of the city around her, a single white horse stood before her as she surveyed the city. Many are drawing from biblical interpretations for their answers. Could this pale horse mean Arya is death?
While I highly doubt she embarks on a killing spree across the lands, this may fit her having one more person to kill. Her list is emptied. No one remains, but after the hell she ran through for episode 5, it would not be unreasonable to assume one name was just etched in blood on her list. If Dani is to die, who thinks Jon has the fortitude to do it? IF Dani is to die, look for Arya to hold the knife.
Could the white horse mean some sort of major ruler-ship for Arya? This doesn’t fit her character type and she walked away from that chance by turning Gendry down, yet we always see rulers and leaders astride a white horse.
One last popular theory is Arya did not survive the destruction of King’s Landing. The white horse could have been there to carry her off into the sunset one last time. Again, this doesn’t seem likely because it doesn’t fit her character. Also, that does not give a character like Arya a fitting ending. Granted we have people in arms about Cersei’s end not being fitting. No, we need a conclusion to Arya’s arc in the Game of Thrones finale.
