This is more or less yet another non-update about when we’ll be able to see the further adventures of the Robinson’s. . . and Doctor Smith. Back in March, I had reached out to Netflix to see if they could give me an update about Season 2 . . . and they couldn’t. The last official word we got about season 2 was this tweet:

All that tells us is that it’s coming. But now, thanks to the description for Lost in Space: Novel #1, it appeared that we might actually have an “official” date. But. . . not so fast. The Lost in Space Season 2 release date suggested here might not be accurate. . . But it could be. The description reads as follows:

“While on a colonization mission in the not too distant future, a crisis maroons the Robinson family on an alien planet where they must band together to survive.

This action-packed, middle-grade novel is the first in a series that focuses on 11-year-old Will Robinson and his two older sisters, Judy and Penny. Timed to coincide with the debut of season 2, this novel is based on Netflix’s Lost in Space: a dramatic, modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series.”

After seeing the report via What’s On Netflix, I reached out again to my rep at Netflix. I would have been really surprised if they had actually confirmed it for me. . . I got exactly the answer I thought I would. To paraphrase, ‘we have no official statement at this time’. They went on to tell me that “the release date of the book is not reflective of the release date for season 2, which has not yet been set, nor announced.”

But what does that mean?!?

So what should we take away from this? November 19th, which is when the book releases is a Tuesday. It’s more than likely that Lost in Space Season 2 will drop on a Friday. So, will the release date actually be the 22nd or the 29th? Maybe? It’s entirely possible that the “mistaken” description could “coincidentally” be accurate. The timeline I speculated on last August, would suggest that November is a good guess.

For now though, until we get an official announcement, fans of the series can at least look forward to the release of the book, which based on the description, is a novelization of Season 1. What do you guys think? Will Lost In Space Season 2 drop mid-November? Will we have to wait even longer? Let us know in the comments. In the meantime, while you wait for the next “update” you can check out the Comic Book tie-in, Countdown to Danger.

Lost in Space Novel 1 Updated Description 5-17-19

The description on Amazon’s website has been updated to remove the bit about being timed to release with the show. It now reads:

” While on a colonization mission in the not too distant future, a crisis maroons the Robinson family on an alien planet where they must band together to survive.

This action-packed, middle-grade novel is the first in a series that focuses on 11-year-old Will Robinson and his two older sisters, Judy and Penny. This novel is based on Netflix’s Lost in Space: a dramatic, modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series.”
