Lightsaber’s are in fact, one of the most iconic symbols of all things Star Wars. Yes, it is well know that each one is built around a Kyber Crystals. Self made by the Jedi that wields the weapon. But, did you know there is a second source of power in the technology?
The team at Star Wars Theory have put together this video describing why all lightsabers need batteries! Yes, they’re battery operated!
Now, it seems like a joke, but it’s not. There is plenty of evidence in the books, both “Legends” and canon. Using the Star Wars visual dictionaries for reference, Star Wars Theory had done a thorough job of stating their case…
Now, myself personally feel like we could throw this lightsaber fact out the cargo bay door and just go with kyber as the entire source. I think most would be fine with that explanation too.
