Gotham ends its five-year run tonight. To honor the finale it released a trailer worthy of the big screen in anticipation of the big event. The online promo gives fans plenty of sneak peeks of the characters that will return and plot points that will be reaching their conclusion .

The Gotham trailer doesn’t just provide a glimpse of the city ten years later. It drops hints of what we can expect from the grown up Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz, about to act much older than his age) return. It also features exciting scenes of everyone’s favorite antiheroes and villains.

There’s the much discussed Joker, of course, being impaled with an object suspiciously similar to a batarang. There’s the Penguin, still running more than his fair share of the town. And, perhaps most interesting of all, there’s the new Selina Kyle (Lili Simmons). This final episode will serve as a test for whether the show’s divisive choice to have an older actress take over for Camren Bicondova will pay off. Based on the promo above, she’s doing just fine. It’s more a question of what Mazouz will look like next to her.

More than Bad Guys in Gotham Trailer

It’s not all bad guys, though. Right beside Barbara Kean, fans can catch their first look at a young Barbara Gordon. She’s a character no one expected to see once Gotham sent her would-be mother to Arkham Asylum after the first season. Jim Gordon and his cohorts have certainly been down a windy road over the last five years. That’s especially true when compared against the comic book source material. But… show is clearly committed to seeing things through.

The final episode, ironically called “The Beginning…,” airs Thursday, April 25th at 9/8c on FOX. Check out the official description below:

The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs in the all-new “The Beginning… ” series finale episode of GOTHAM.
