In a little over a month Godzilla: King of the Monsters comes out in theaters across America. According to co-writer and director Michael Dougherty this movie starts five years after 2014’s Godzilla. This time around we learn that Monarch has known about the existence of kaiju for decades, but kept it a secret to avoid public hysteria. Also introduced is a new shadowy society that has its own plans for these monsters.

Millie Bobby Brown appears in the trailer as the daughter of Dr. Emma Russell. Played by Vera Farmiga, she is a Monarch scientist kidnapped by the new group for an unknown purpose. Also starring in this film are Ken Watanabe, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, Zhang Ziyi, and Bradley Whitford. Some monsters we see in the trailer are Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah out of 17 titans Watanabe declares in his voiceover.

We’re told in the trailer that the humans will get in the fight. This makes me wonder how and if Jaegers will make an appearance. Honestly though, this trailer looks so good I don’t even need any of the humans to appear on the screen. I’d watch 2 hours of Godzilla and the various monsters fighting each other WWF King of the Ring style. Maybe we could have Watanabe say “Let them fight” over and over again a la Michael Buffer before each bout.
