Dark Visions Spoilers Ahead
Vader – Dark Visions No. 1 is the start to a five comic series that shows the impact that Vader left throughout the universe. We already know what Darth Vader was capable of from the movies and the last Vader comic series. But now we get to see more of how he impacted different individuals and places throughout the galaxy.
The Planet Of Cianap
In this issue we find Darth Vader on a planet named Cianap. Cianap looks to be a planet that has gone through hard times, as the cities seem like they have been through a war. What makes this story interesting is that it is told from the perspective of one of the children that lives on the planet. But what I really like is the fact that this child has no clue who Vader is.
The Ender
You soon learn that the kid and his race are living underground because of a monster that is destroying the cities. I don’t want to give too many spoilers, so I will just say the child was shocked when he saw Vader’s ship falling from the sky. When Darth Vader emerges from his ship, the kid watches him take on this Monster that no one could kill. The kid knows this massive monster only as “The Ender”. Was this Dark Knight meant to be savior of the planet and kill this monster?
The Creative Team
Illustrator Paolo Villanelli is responsible for bringing this battle to life. He did an amazing job showing how powerful Vader is. The art just drew you into the story even more. The colors that Arif Prianto used really set the mood and brought the pages to life. Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum really did a great job telling the story of Vader, conveying both his ruthlessness and power. Additionally, and importantly he made Vader out to look like a hero.
Darth Vader A Hero?
That’s right a hero! Yes, this comic is action packed and we see the Darth Vader we know. But just when you thought you knew everything about the unforgiving Darth Vader, you see this different side of him. Yes it was brief, but showed that there might be a little good left in the Sith Lord.
My Final Thoughts
This series started intense and action packed. I am very excited for the next comic in the series. If you are a fan of Vader this is a must read. On my Hashtag rating system I give it 5 out of 5 Hashtags. This comic wont let you down. Between the story and the art this is the Vader you’re looking for.
