===== POSSIBLE SPOILERS =====

An online retailer may have accidently given us a spoiler for Avengers Endgame.  A new Captain America action figure might have a clue to the next movie.

PREVENTING SPOILERS

The toys and other merchandise for Avengers Endgame are scheduled to hit shelves at the end of March. To try and prevent unintentional spoilers, retailers are under an embargo to not let pictures of the toys leak.  However, pictures of the Avengers Endgame Marvel Legends action figures have popped up at Comic Book Movie.  They are part of a Thanos Build-A-Figure series which requires you to purchase all six figures to complete a Thanos action figure as seen in Avengers: Infinity War.

The set includes Captain America, Ronin, Ebony Maw, Living Laser, Marvel’s Nighthawk, Citizen V, and what looks to be Marvel’s Hercules.  Only Captain America, Ronin (aka Hawkeye), and Ebony Maw are based on the Marvel films.  The remaining characters have not appeared in the Marvel cinematic universe and are based on their comic book appearances.

CAPTAIN AMERICA’S COSTUME

The most interesting figure is Captain America.  He is wearing the “Quantum Realm” suit that was seen in the most recent Avengers Endgame trailer. Cap is also wearing what appears to be the helmet he wore in 2012’s The Avengers.  This is on top of the fact that set photos from Endgame have shown Chris Evans wearing the 2012 costume.

AVENGERS ENDGAME THEORIES | POSSIBLE SPOILERS

With the likely use of time travel in Endgame, this leaves a few possibilities. One theory is that Steve Rogers will travel back in time to the Battle of New York and impersonate his past self. This is similar to how Marty McFly pretended to be his own son in Back to the Future Part II.  A darker theory predicts the current Steve Rogers will be killed and the other Avengers will bring his younger version back to the future.

A final possibility is that the helmet he wears with the quantum suit is just a convenient accessory.  This is similar to Captain America: Civil War, when Steve raids his own museum exhibit to find appropriate combat gear.  The 2012 helmet might be the only one he can find. Audiences will find out the truth, April 26, when Avengers Endgame hits theaters.
