With Star Wars Celebration rapidly approaching, Star Wars fans are growing desperate for any information they can get their hands on. The folks over at makingstarwars.net recently put together a Star Wars: Episode IX rumor wrap-up podcast. There are certainly some interesting tidbits in podcast, which is chocked full of speculation. Based on set leaks and other information we already have, however, it seems there might be some truth among the rumor.
First, we have some more news on the Jordan filming location. It seems that the locale will serve as the backdrop for not one, but two planets. Early speculation is that those two planets are none other than Jakku and, you guessed it, Tatooine. If this particular Episode IX rumor rings true, Star Wars may make an emotional return to the Lars homestead.
Episode IX Rumor: Kylo, the Knights of Ren, and Rey
We’ve all already heard that the Knights of Ren will finally make their debut in Star Wars: Episode IX. According to the latest Episode IX rumor, the Sith acolytes have filmed scenes at the Jordan location. If the Knights of Ren, and Kylo Ren, are involved, my money would be on that taking place on Tatooine. Rumor also has Kylo Ren possessing have a new ship, white with red and black detailing and “cool mechanical looking parts”. It’s there that he’ll store Darth Vader’s mangled mask.
What I found most interesting about the Jordan location Episode IX rumor is the suggestion that Luke’s X-Wing fighter was there. That could tie in to another recent report about the ship popping up at Pinewood Studios. Interestingly, Rey allegedly has in her possession Luke’s X-Wing helmet, as well.
Keri Russell Finally Spotted on Set
The last notable Episode IX rumor we have involves Keri Russell. Fans have been guessing that she will play Mara Jade or Rey’s mother (if the two are not one and the same). According to the report, Russell was spotted on a “snow planet” wearing rose-gold armor over a purple bodysuit. That sounds a little more Flash Gordon than Star Wars to me, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. You can listen to the whole Making Star Wars podcast HERE.
If other rumors are true, Lucasfilm will finally show some Episode IX footage at Star Wars Celebration.
