Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D has been a big player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever since the beginning of Phase 2. The show was conceived as a spin-off show from The Avengers and would follow the previously deceased Phil Coulson played by Clark Gregg and would follow the going ons at SHIELD.
Unlike other Marvel television programmes however, AOS actually does tie into the films of the universe and has been heavily impacted by films such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age Of Ultron. It is likely that we will see the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame effect Season 7 in a big way.
Speaking of Season 7, it appears that the upcoming season could end up being the swan song for the hit show.
In a recent interview with KTLA5, Coulson himself Clark Gregg was reflecting on his time on the show and seems to indicate that this upcoming season, which is currently filming, will be the final season of the show.
Gregg said: “Here I am, eleven years later. We just started shooting the seventh, and final season of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D in Culver City, and it’s been an incredible ride.”

It does seem as if this will be the final season for the show based on these comments. However it is important to remember that cast believed the show would end in Season 5, but then it was renewed for Season 6 & 7 simultaneously.
