Boba Fett’s Got Nuthin’ On Me!
Fantasy Flight Games has just posted their latest Star Wars game – Star Wars: Outer Rim. FF has been hitting their game designs out of the park recently, both with its Star Wars products and its non-Star Wars products. Their latest creation looks to be no different.
What’s It All About?
Their basic description of the game is as follows:
FantasyFlightGames.com
In Outer Rim, you take on the role of an underworld denizen, setting out to make your mark on the galaxy. You’ll travel the Outer Rim in your personal ship, hire legendary Star Wars characters to join your crew, and try to become the most famous (or infamous) outlaw in the galaxy!
But it won’t be easy. The warring factions of the galaxy roam the Outer Rim, hunting down the scum that have proven to be a thorn in their side, and other scoundrels looking to make their mark see you as the perfect target to bring down and bolster their own reputation. Do you have what it takes to survive in the Outer Rim and become a living legend?
This amazing looking game looks to place us in the roles of some of our favorite characters and build names for ourselves. Depending on the one of eight characters you choose, your role in the galaxy could be to find the fastest ship, capture the biggest bounty, smuggle illegal shipments, or sabotage Imperial bases.
Fortune and Glory, Kid.
As with all great stories, it starts with simply you and your ship. After that you must find the path to 10 Fame points faster than everyone else. Along the way you can pick up famous co-pilots and crew like Chewbacca or Hondo Ohnaka. You can gain weapons or outfit your ship to meet your needs and reputation.
The “board”, if you wish to call it that, is a rainbow looking structure containing planets from the outer rim. You will have to navigate hyperspace lanes, avoiding Hutts, Imperials, Rebels and rivals.
You also have character cards and ship cards to keep track of fame, upgrades, crew, etc. It looks like there are going to be several ways to experience this game depending on the path you choose as well as your choices. The right crew member or upgrade could make you famous. The wrong member or insufficient upgrade could make you…well…dead.
Punch It!
SO! Anyone else ready to whip out their credit card and buy this bad boy? Sorry folks. It is not out quite yet. The game will run approx $65 USD, but there is no exact release date listed. It simply states second quarter of 2019. That’s just a couple months away.
What do you say, can you make the Kessel Run in 11 parsecs??
