It’s confirmed: EA, Dice, Criterion, and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is releasing early. The game designers originally announced at E3 2018 that they’d release the game around the holidays, 2019. Now, however, EA has confirmed that will be released Fall 2019, with footage from the game coming soon.
This is awesome news for Star Wars gamers. If the footage gets released soon, we are going to get a good idea as to what fans can expect from this game. (if its anything like recently released artwork from Battlefront II, we’re in fora treat.) Additionally, we now know where in the Star Wars timeline Fallen Order is going to fall.
In a prepared statement (as The Verge reports), EA CEO Andrew Wilson reported that the game “truly captures the fantasy of becoming a Jedi, and we will have a lot more to share soon.”
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to Fill Star Wars Gaming Void
The release date announcement and comments from Wilson come at a good time. Fans, upset that EA cancelled its plans for narrative-based, open universe Star Wars game, needed something to restore their faith in the game makers. If the game itself doesn’t instill confidence, the lead game maker’s name will. Now heading the project is Stig Asmussen, game director for Gods of War 3.
Joining Asmussen will be a ” team of veterans from some of the industry’s biggest action-adventure games, ” Wilson said of Fallen Order. “It’s very far along in development, and having spent time with it recently myself, it plays spectacularly well.”
Right now we only have limited information about Fallen Order, but we do know a few details. It’s a single-player, third-person POV game. It will also take place around the time of Revenge Of The Sith, and focus on an as-yet unnamed Jedi.
