Warwick Davis. Of course you know who that is. Wicket W. Warwick? Willow Upgood? Mr. Davis has graced Lucas fans for decades, being involved in many Star Wars projects (7; although we’re fudging by including Caravan of Courage and The Battle of Endor) and George Lucas’ lone fantasy endeavor, Willow.
It appears Mr. Davis has been elected to usher in the 2019 Star Wars Celebration in Chicago and we cannot think of a better individual for the job. Our only gripe: Move the festivities west! We would love to attend and get involved and maybe catch a glimpse of one of genre’s favorite individuals.
Hearing the news conjures up images of Mr. Davis through the years as our favorite Ewok and favorite 80’s Halfling before Peter Jackson obliterated all fantasy competition with his Lord of the Rings trilogy. Mr. Davis also appeared in The Phantom Menace and gambling away in The Last Jedi. It appeared that he was poised to really make it big when he was cast as the lead in Willow but apparently the fan and critical response to that film was not what Lucas had hoped and therefore dreams of sequels dwindled.
You may have caught him in 2016 when he hosted Celebration Europe or in 2017 at Celebration Orlando. If you were one of the lucky ones in attendance we’d love to hear about your experience in the comments below!
