Disney’s live-action Aladdin releases in theaters on May 24th, 2018. And Entertainment Weekly has released the first look images form the film. We are getting to see lots of different scenes and some of the characters we’ll get to meet in the movie.
Another thing we get to see is Will Smith as The Genie. The version we see in the images and on the cover is Genie in his human disguise form. Will Smith did confirm that will also see Genie as the iconic blue color through CGI.
Smith did mention to the magazine that “Whenever you’re doing things that are iconic, it’s always terrifying. The question is always: Where was there meat left on the bone? Robin didn’t leave a lot of meat on the bone with the character.”
Smith went on to say “I think it’ll stand out as unique even in the Disney world. There hasn’t been a lot of that hip-hop flavor in Disney history. I like the fact that our Genie has an ego and is a little bit vain and he cares about how he’s presented because he’s been doing this for a very long time.”
Guy Richie did say that this version of Genie will have a fresh take, and he will also have musical numbers in the film.
We also got a lot of images from the film as well.
With this first image, we get to see Aladdin’s lovable monkey, Abu. This scene looks like he’s in the Cave Of Wonders, but I wonder what he’s looking at.
Jafar in this film is being played by Marwen Kenzari, and it looks he’s going after the magic lamp.
Naomi Scott’s version of Jasmine will be different in this film as opposed to the ’92 animated film. Her costumes will be different, and her story will also be different. In this film, Jasmine will be searching for power to protect her people.
Jasmine and Aladdin are going to be running from place guards by going through a tannery, and this is a scene that I’m really excited to see.
We are also getting some new characters. One happens to be Dalia, who is being portrayed by Nasim Pedrad. This new character is going to be both Jasmine’s best friend, and her handmaiden.
Aladdin is definitely going to be the hero in this movie, but we don’t know what he could be fighting against in this scene.
But just like the original film, Jasmine will be in disguise, and running into Aladdin in the market.
This final image shows Aladdin and Genie having a conversation. This isn’t Genie’s only look we’ll be getting in the film, and it’s exciting to hear that we will also see Genie as the iconic Blue color, just like in the ’92 movie.
This film looks like it will be amazing, and I can’t wait for it to release.
