Ian Ziering

Ian Ziering is known for many things, Sharknado, Sharknado 2, Sharknado 4,  and of course, Beverly Hills, 90210. However, many people might not realize he also has a notable career in Voice Acting with notable roles in both Spider-Man as Harry Osborn and in Batman: Beyond as Mason Forrest. In 2019 Ian will be coming back to the world of Comic Books, this time for a Live-Action role in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing.

Ziering will be taking on the part of Daniel Cassidy. In the source material, Daniel Cassidy is both a Special Effects expert and a Stuntman. Eventually, Daniel is offered a movie called The Blue Devil for which he would both star in and create the costume for. Using his extensive skill set, he didn’t just make a costume, he built a fully functional ‘super-suit’.

Daniel Cassidy Is Stuck As Blue Devil

Becoming The Blue Devil

While filming, one thing leads to another and Daniel accidentally unleashes the Demon Nebiros into the world. Using his ‘super-suit’ and his rocket-powered Trident, Daniel was able to force Nebiros back to his home dimension. However, during the fight, Daniel was blasted with Demonic energy and the suit became permanently attached. Of course, it would be pretty hard to live a regular life that way, and he eventually found himself battling villains. Later in his career, he ended up dying and coming back as an actual Demon with enhanced powers and abilities.

Daniel Cassidy/Blue Devil

It hasn’t yet been revealed which version of the hero or in what capacity the character would be appearing. I’m going to speculate that this version of the character will already be or will have always been in his demonic form instead of the exo-suit version of him.

Swamp Thing will follow CDC researcher Abby Arcane as she “returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.”
