The 2019 Golden Globes nominations were this morning, and Marvel Studios have picked up 3 nominations thanks to Black Panther.
The film is nominated for Best Picture-Drama, and is going up against BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, If Beale Street Could Talk, and A Star Is Born. Ryan Coogler didn’t get nominated for best director, but Ludwig Göransson’s score got nominated. Along with that, Kendrick Lamar’s “All The Stars” was nominated for Best Original Song.
Sony Pictures Animation and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is nominated for Best Animated Feature alongside Disney’s Ralph Breaks The Internet, Pixar’s The Incredibles 2, Isle Of Dogs, and Mirai.
The nominations for Black Panther is just another first in T’Challa’s groundbreaking solo film. The film is the first superhero film in the history of the Golden Globes to get nominated for the Best Picture- Drama category. However, Deadpool was previously nominated in the Best Picture- Comedy or Musical category.
The awards are happening on January 6th, so hopefully, Black Panther can bring home a win.
