The Star Wars original trilogy will forever remain a timeless classic and the standard bearer when it comes to cinematic Star Wars storytelling. A new series of animated shorts, however, will now bring elements of the original Star Wars and more to the next generation of young fans. The series, Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, will debut this Friday.

Lucasfilm executive James Wagh recently talked to StarWars.com about the new series. Galaxy of Adventures officially launches on the new Star Wars Kids YouTube channel on November 30. Its goal? Introduce “classic themes, pivotal moments, and iconic characters” to a younger set of Star Wars fans.

What Will Galaxy of Adventures Bring to the Table?

“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world,” Wagh began.

“Over the years, I’ve had so many of my friends who are parents tell me how much they wanted to introduce their kids to Star Wars but didn’t feel that their kids were quite ready for the movies yet.”

Galaxy of Adventures will allow parents to now ease their kids into the Star Wars universe. The series of shorts, with its bold animation, lets kids experience Star Wars in “bite-sized” pieces. That will make to stories easier for them to understand. The series will also feature mixed-media shorts with fun Star Wars facts. Parents then have an opportunity to continue the Star Wars conversation with their kids once the featured short is over.

Telling Star Wars from a New Perspective

“One of the wonderful aspects of the Star Wars universe is that you can always explore more and go deeper into the fiction,” Waugh reminds us. Galaxy of Adventures follows Star Wars Resistance in Lucasfilm’s efforts to appeal to a younger audience. A new line of Hasbro toys tied to the series is also coming exclusively to Walmart on December 1. The nationwide toy release will occur in January of next year.

“Star Wars continues to evolve and grow over the years but it’ll always be anchored in those original films that started it all,” says Waugh. “Galaxy of Adventures is a fresh way to introduce an entirely new and younger generation to those concepts, characters, and themes.”

So get your padawans ready. Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures drops tomorrow on the new Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. You can also catch it on the brand new website, StarWarsKids.com. Just, you know, keep the padawans away from Anakin.
