William Goldman, known for writing The Princess Bride, Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid, Misery, The Stepford Wives, and so many others, has died at the age of 87. According to Deadline, he died overnight at his home, surrounded by his friends and family.
Before writing screenplays, he was a novelist and adapted several of them for the big screen. His work on All the Presidents Men and Butch Cassidey earned him Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay respectively. His work as a script doctor contributed to films like The Last Action Hero, Twins, and A Few Good Men.
Though he hadn’t worked on a film in quite some time, his influence will live on.
